I had to run down stairs and bring my wife back up to show her this picture. Too funny. She's the cat person in our family. Hey, on the HRM.. I'm looking at buying one. You obviously like yours, but do you have any suggestions about what you really need or don't need on one?
As for the HRM question...I only have experience with Polar, but i've noticed most triathletes use Polar, and I haven't had much trouble with it in water as most all of their HRM's are rated in water at least to 30m.
My first HRM was basic, A3...they don't make them anymore I think. It only gave me the time of day, total time of workout (one file), avg HR for the workout and not much else. Now that i have a split watch function on my HRM, i'm not sure how I lived 3 seasons without one.
The RS100 allows you to have a split watch function, gives you your max HR for your workout, avg HR on your splits, holds up to 99 splits, # calories burned, total time, avg HR for the whole workout, and a variety of other things i have not yet utilized. I now don't know how I lived without the split watch function. The RS 200 with the foot pod is another 100 dollars, and if I could have afforded it I would have done that as you would have also had distance.
You can get into fancier HRMs at higher price ranges like the Gorman which has GPS and fancy things like that. OR Polar has one that has bike computer functions that include cadence meter and stuff like that...the list goes on.
I'm a data junkie i've discovered so for some people more data is not helpful other people it is helpful and some more data can be a hinderance. You have to figure out how into gadgets you are and if you will really utilize all the bells and whistles of the gadget.
In my personal opinion, I think that having a split function is a really good thing for me now. I'm now doing track workouts and wanting to know my mile splits on my runs. Knowing my avg HR for each split also allows me to tune in my speed. So i think that the only thing I actually wish the watch could do is distance. Aside from that, I think there would be too many functions for me to effectively utilise.
